|
New Delhi, the capital of India, is a beautiful, modern and bustling city where east meets west in science and healthcare, fueled by electronic communication, e-health and medical informatics. The culinary delights and radiance of our historic culture provide the 'spice route' to savour 'Incredible India' (http://incredibleindia.org)
We hope to offer a unique platform to exchange information, share education, experiences, and review technology. We cordially invite you to New Delhi, India for this conference. The organizing committee looks forward to see you in New Delhi in January 2012.

| Getting to New Delhi |
|
New Delhi is India's capital city and a popular tourist destination, accessible by air, rail and road.
|
By Air
Indira Gandhi International Airport (IATA: DEL, ICAO: VIDP) serves international travelers and Palam Domestic Airport serves domestic travellers. For inquiries, call the international airport (+91 11 337 6000) or the domestic airport ( +91 11 2567 5126 ) or click the link here:http://www.newdelhiairport.in/traveller.aspx
At Indira Gandhi International Airport, a pre-paid taxi stand is located in the arrival terminal.
By Train
Direct trains are widely available to Delhi, but it is advisable to check with the local train station for schedules. Book well in advance to ensure a ticket.
There are four train stations in New Delhi, two of them serving the majority of travellers: the New Delhi train station at Paharganj and the Old Delhi train station in Old Delhi. The Nizamuddin train station serves cities south of Delhi and the SaraiRohilla train station serves Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Udaipur.
By Road
Various state-managed bus companies travel between Delhi and India's major cities (see: Delhi Transport Corporation, Himachal Roadways, Uttar Pradesh Roadways, Uttaranchal Roadways, Punjab Roadways, Haryana Roadways and Rajasthan Roadways). Most travel to Delhi's main bus station, the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT), which is located north of the Old Delhi train station. Buses from Jaipur/Jodhpur/Ajmer/Udaipur arrive at Bikaner House near India Gate in New Delhi.
For those travelling from Pakistan, Delhi Transport Corporation runs Bus service twice per week between New Delhi and Lahore.

Buses
Buses are among the cheapest ways to get around Delhi. Buses are run by both the State-owned Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and by private contractors. Bus fares are typically denominated in 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 and 25 rupees, depending on the type of bus and the route.
Taxis
Taxis are readily available in Delhi, most operated by the DTC, the Indian Tourism Ministry and various private operators. To hire a taxi, one may go to a nearby taxi stand or telephone a taxi service provider. Some reliable taxi companies are:

Auto Rickshaws
Auto rickshaws are slightly more expensive than buses but are cheaper than taxis. They are plentiful and can be flagged from the road. 'Autos' seat a maximum of three passengers. We advise caution when hiring an auto-rickshaw as many drivers refuse to use the meter. Bargaining works best in this scenario and it is advisable to insist on fixing a fare before entering the auto. For more information on safety and security/fares/sight-seeing, see General Tips.
New Delhi Metro
The New Delhi Metro is easy to navigate and reasonably priced, but it does not cover all parts of the city. The closest metro station to India Habitat Center is JawaharLal Nehru Metro Station. Please see the Metro website for a route map:http://www.delhimetrorail.com |
